MIN 612 - procedure for certification during coronavirus

Published: 17 March 20

We appreciate that some of you are at the point of renewal of your coding certificate but that your boat may be somewhere currently inaccessible, or your surveyor may not be able to travel to it, due to the current Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.

The MCA has issued guidance - the MCA approach to survey and certification of UK vessels - MIN 612 - valid until 20 September 2020.  See this on the link below:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/min-612-mf-coronavirus-covid-19-mca-approach-to-survey-and-certification-of-uk-vessels?utm_source=022e0cc1-734e-489e-ba3f-3e04645cb8ef&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=govuk-notifications&utm_content=immediate

This MIN gives guidance on extending / issuing short term certificates, plus servicing of liferafts, lifejackets and other LSAs.

Please keep in touch with us so we know your plans and if we can assist you at all.  If there is a surveyor in your local area who could get to the boat, then talk to us about asking him to assist you at this time, even if he/she is from a different CA.  We want to help you as much as we can at this difficult time so you can get back to operation as soon as the restrictions are lifted.
