To help get to grips with the newly launched Workboat Code Edition 3 (WB3), we are running a series of online webinars hosted by our Technical Consultant, Ross Wombwell.

The series started on the 12th December with an hour-and-a-half Introductory Training Session, followed by a session at the beginning of January on, Structure, stability and water freeing. Both these sessions are available to access as recordings using any of the below booking forms and selecting the 12th December or 11th January recording option.

Our next session will be on the 18th January at 6:30pm GMT - running for approximately an hour. Topics covered are: Machinery, propulsion, fuel, electrical, steering, rudder and bilge pumping systems. Followed by a Q&A.

There will then be another training sessions on the  25^th of January.  This will be an hour long followed by a Q&A. We are then likely to then run additional sessions throughout 2024.

What is The Workboat Code Edition 3 (WB3)?
The MCA introduced a new Workboat Code of Practice on the 13th December 2023, applying new rules to vessels in commercial use. It is backed by new legislation (SI 2023 No. 1216).

WB3 has been in development over the last few years, looking to modernise and enhance requirements or workboat operations and includes substantial changes to the coding and operation of vessels.

New areas WB3 looks at include new safety rules around using lithium-ion batteries in propulsion, and the use of Remotely Operated Unmanned Vessels.
